London Development Agency
Silvertown Quays is an exciting, mixed-use development and a vital part of the London Thames Gateway initiative – one of Europe's largest regeneration projects.
Silvertown Quays will create a vibrant new heart for the Royal Docks in East London. The 24 hectares (59 acres) of former docklands will be transformed into an exceptional blend of high quality residential, offices, workspace, retail, leisure, entertainment and local facilities to support a thriving, waterfront community.

The site is bounded by (and includes part of) the Royal Victoria Dock to the north, Mill Road to the west, North Woolwich Road to the south and Connaught Bridge Road to the east.

Work, live, visit and enjoy
A new commercial hub will be created around the impressive Grade II listed Silo D building. New offices and workspace will bring large and small companies to Silvertown Quays. There will be opportunities for many whether they are a local business or major employer, an employee or self-employed.

Visitors will be stunned by Biota! the World’s first aquarium dedicated to aquatic conservation. And all will enjoy the superb retail, leisure and entertainment facilities including Venture Xtreme a unique extreme sports project, a new hotel, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Living and breathing spaces
Silvertown Quays will be an exciting mix of new residential districts providing private and social housing with new public spaces, landscaping and a rejuvenated dock area.

It will be the location for some 5,000 attractive new homes in a variety of designs and sizes - fashioned by a range of innovative architects. Many will have stunning views over the Royal Docks and the Thames.

All homes will provide modern living space. There will be access to a private garden, roof terrace or balcony, or there will be shared spaces in semi-private gardens.

Sustainable communities
The creation of a sustainable community is the goal at Silvertown Quays, it will be focused on the UK Government's policy to encourage the regeneration of brownfield sites for the benefit of local communities.

It will be a safe environment for both young and old. There will be new public open spaces, a primary school, health centre and community facilities.

Freeing up transport
Silvertown Quays will complete a vital link to nearby schemes, including the Excel Exhibition Centre, the Royals Business Park and London City Airport.

The main public transport link will be via the Docklands Light Railway and around 75 per cent of the visitors to the aquarium are expected to use the DLR.

There are plans to extend bus services into the heart of the development and to make sure the new facilities are well-connected and accessible to others living locally.

Phased development
Silvertown Quays will be developed in phases or over a period of 10-15 years.

The first phase will begin surrounded by the renovation of the Millennium Mills and the construction of a new square with residential buildings. At the same time, Biota! will begin construction.

The second phase will see the start of the retail, restaurant, bars and offices, alongside additional residential space and the completion of the Biota! and new public areas.

Phases three and four will feature community facilities such as a new primary school, heath facilities and a community hall, as well as a significant amount of housing, further public spaces and new infrastructure.
